In a slightly strange parliamentary debate last night, Medicines Australia's Strategic Agreement was described as containing "exciting, sexy parts" by Shadow Health Minister Mark Butler before controversial MP Craig Kelly took to the floor and derailed debate by launching into a flogging of the TGA over discredited Covid therapy ivermectin.
Butler was first to rise for the second reading of the National Health Amendment (Enhancing the Pharmaceutical Benefits Scheme) Bill 2021, which underpins MA's agreement with the federal government, and includes a comprehensive review of Health Technology Assessment processes in Australia.
