Some people may be born with resistance to COVID-19 and understanding the genes involved could help steer the development of innovative drugs to prevent or treat infection in others, according to an international team of researchers.
In a new perspective, published in the journal Nature Immunology this week, researchers from the University of Melbourne and Biomedical Research Foundation of the Academy of Athens propose a strategy for identifying, recruiting, and genetically analysing individuals who are naturally resistant to SARS-CoV-2 infection.
