Hot on the heels of the well-received inquiry into approval proccess for new medicines, the House of Representatives Standing Committee on Health, Aged Care and Sport is conducting another review, this one into childhood rheumatic diseases and juvenile arthritis.
Around one in every thousand children in Australia is affected by juvenile arthritis, and it is more common in girls than boys, according to the Australian Institute of Health and Welfare. The term includes several kinds of arthritis occurring in children, causing significant pain, disability and restrictions in school and other activities.
