New contraceptive wins thumbs up

Adelaide-based Mayne Pharma has gained approval from the TGA for its novel oral contraceptive Nextstellis, marking the first new contraceptive hormone in Australia in a decade.

Nextstellis is the first and only pill containing estetrol (E4), an estrogen produced by the human body during pregnancy, now derived from a plant source, and combined with drospirenone (DRSP).
