In what could be regarded as a thinly veiled swipe at the current hierachy in the Department of Health and PBAC, a submission to the National Medicines Policy Review (NMPR) has called for the re-introduction of the "strategic leadership" of times gone by and a "reset of the relationship" between the federal government and the medicines industry.
The joint submission by former MA boss Dr Brendan Shaw and academic Dr Orin Chisholm has called for the medicines industry to become a partner in the health of Australian patients - not merely a supplier of medicines in a transactional relationship.
