Under co-pays worth $1.5b

With over 96 million prescriptions dispensed, the under co-payment market delivered close to $1.5 billion in revenue to generic suppliers in 2019-20 a government tally has revealed.

Under co-payment scripts are those whose cost falls below the PBS co-payments of  $41 for general patients and $6.60 for concessional patients. Data on this hidden market has been gathered by the Department of Health since 2012.
