Faster drug approvals in 2021

 Posted 16 October 2020

A pathway to medicine approvals in Australia could become significantly quicker with the TGA announcing the United Kingdom's top regulator will join a global consortium that cuts regulatory red tape and evaluation times by assessing pharmaceuticals for approval in five countries with just one review.

The newly named Access Consortium which represents Australia, Canada, Singapore, Switzerland and now the United Kingdom aims to provide patients with quicker access to safe and effective products in each of the member countries, with the five member team commencing work-sharing from January 2021.
