WEHI fast-tracks Covid find

Under the roof of Australia's new drug fast-track centre, a research team at the Walter and Eliza Hall Institute have made a discovery that may lead to a treatment against Covid.

The researchers are looking to develop a drug that inactivates a key viral protein called PLpro which allows the SARS-CoV-2 virus, as well as other coronaviruses, to hijack human cells and disable their anti-viral defences.
